Constituents identified from recent scientific advances in Haematology have been incorporated into this formula allowing RED BLOOD CELL proliferation to be positively supported at all stages, from initiation to maturity.

The life-style of professional race-horses places extra strain on the red blood cells. The repeated and vigorous flow through capillaries and veins leads to their degradation at above normal rates. 5 days growing in the bone marrow and a day in the blood stream are required for red blood cells (erythrocytes) to be produced and mature. They normally last around 140 – 150 days, but less under harsh conditions. The instigation for the production of red blood cells is a hormone, largely produced by the kidneys (and the Liver) called Erythropoietin (EPO). The kidneys produce this initiator hormone when other bio-chemical signals tell of a drop in the RBC count. However, unless this “trigger” hormone and the correct nutrients are available at virtually the same time, the release of EPO is wasted.

Iron and Cobalt are the major Cations required, in conjunction with vitamins B12, B6, B2, B1, Pantothenic acid, Folates, C, E, and a number of amino acids. Hormones that originate from the thyroid gland and androgens are also required. The majority of these components, not always available to the horse are provided in "Blood Booster".
